I’m Balázs Becsei, a third-generation watchmaker and jeweller. I make engagement rings, wedding bands and one-of-a-kind pieces by hand, to order, in my workshop on Szent István körút in downtown Budapest.
You can bring your own gold, or I’ll supply the metal. Stones can be natural diamonds, coloured gemstones or ethical lab-grown diamonds.
Hundreds of clients have left reviews of our jewellery and repairs on Google profile. Those reviews keep me going. So does the moment a client sees their finished piece for the first time and I get to watch their face.
My grandfather worked in this trade, and so did his two sons, my father among them. I grew up surrounded by antique pieces and old watches.
I trained as a goldsmith and silversmith at Metal-Art, successor to the Hungarian State Mint. Later I also qualified as a watchmaker. I’ve run my own business since 2001, and I’ve welcomed clients at this shop since 2003.

Custom gold work is the heart of what I do. Engagement rings, wedding bands, pendants, necklaces, signet rings: every piece starts with your idea and ends at my bench.
Good to know about your own gold: melting and making costs about 18% of the weight. Solder alloys and anything that isn’t gold burn off in the process. If your gold isn’t enough for the design, I can top it up from my own stock for an extra charge.
Silver is where my training started. People often think a silversmith ranks below a goldsmith. In fact, silversmiths learn everything a goldsmith does and then some: we make gold and silver jewellery, and we can also build and repair candlesticks, trays, cutlery and teapots.

I’ve handled more than 15,000 repair jobs: ring resizing, replacing and resetting stones, fixing chains and clasps, mending breaks. I also restore larger silver pieces like trays, candlesticks and cutlery.
I’m always interested in quality pieces with collector value, whatever their condition:
I was one of the first jewellers in Hungary to work with ethical lab-grown diamonds. They’re physically, chemically and optically the same as mined diamonds, conflict-free, and cost less. Natural diamonds and coloured stones are always available too.
If a ring I’ve made doesn’t fit quite right, I’ll adjust it.
For a year after pickup, I’ll fix any fault not caused by wear or damage for free. That covers things like a loose stone or a broken clasp. After that, or for everyday wear and tear, repairs come at a reduced price.
Send me your idea. A few photos, a Pinterest board or even an AI-generated image is plenty. Email, phone or the form below all work. (A quick note on AI images: they look great, but they ignore how metal and stones actually behave. I’ll always check the design against what can really be made.)
Meet me in the shop. I reply to every message and invite you in. Good custom work needs a face-to-face talk, and it’s how I work out the exact price.
Get a price and a date. We settle the design, metal and stones, and I give you a firm quote and deadline. Confirm in writing. Everything goes on a signed order form, and you keep a copy. You pay a deposit and leave any gold you’ve brought with me.
I make it. Melting, lab testing and alloying the gold, then casting or drawing wire, shaping and finishing by hand.
Official hallmarking. The Hungarian assay office (NEHITI) tests and stamps the piece. This takes up to 9 working days.
Pick it up. Polished, set and engraved if you asked for it, with a certificate and a gift box.
Guarantee. If a ring I’ve made doesn’t fit quite right, I’ll adjust it.
Most clients who live abroad email me first. We then meet in the shop during your visit to Budapest and place the order in person. When the piece is ready, a relative or friend can pick it up, or we time the handover for your next trip.
In some cases I can also agree everything by email and post the finished piece after prepayment. Still, I prefer handing it over in person. I like seeing the reaction.
My shop has been at this address since 2003. It’s in District XIII, a few minutes’ walk from Nyugati railway station and the Parliament.
